As the holiday season rolls around, we’re all looking forward to receiving gifts that bring us joy. We tend to let go of the habit of setting goals for the new year, since they often fail to stick beyond the first few weeks of January. Some of the most unrealistic and unfulfilled resolutions include promises like “I’m going to hit the gym this year” or “I’m going to quit drinking.”
There are some individuals who become suddenly motivated to get a pet, without considering whether they are capable of taking care of it or not. However, owning a pet is a serious responsibility that should never be taken lightly. Unfortunately, some people treat it like a game and abandon their pets once they realize how much work it takes to properly care for them. This was the unfortunate reality faced by the Stray Rescue of St. Louis pet shelter, located in Saint Louis, Missouri, when a truck driver contacted them about a crate of three abandoned puppies he found on the side of the road.
The puppies were spotted by a bus driver who noticed their dreadful situation from afar. Despite feeling helpless, the driver continued on his route. Thankfully, animal rescuers quickly arrived to help. It took some time for them to verify the information given by the driver, but upon arrival, they discovered three newborn puppies who had been abandoned in terrible conditions. The rescue team noted that the puppies were scared and injured, likely due to being left alone. A representative from Stray Rescue of St. Louis assured that they would do everything possible to ensure the puppies have a happy and healthy life moving forward.
Due to the gravity of the situation in which the animals were found, the rescuers promptly took them to a shelter for their safety. Once there, they received nourishment through bottle-feeding. The pups had to undergo medical attention to address their wounds, which were still raw and infected in certain instances. This prompted the specialists to diagnose the puppies with different illnesses. Thankfully, with time, they regained their strength and joyfulness along with their physical well-being.
The animals were in a dire state with visible injuries that were infected, as revealed by the veterinarians. It was evident that they were facing multiple health challenges.
All of the staff members at the animal shelter came to a consensus that the timing of the arrival of these adorable animals and their physical features suggested that they were given as Christmas presents, but unfortunately, were not well-liked by their previous owners. These furry creatures are eagerly waiting for their forever homes where they will be cherished and loved as they rightfully deserve.
Why not share this tale with your loved ones? It’s worth pondering over the idea of bringing living creatures into our lives just for the sake of it. Remember, pets aren’t playthings.
