The accomplished photographer from Oak Ridge, Tennessee has enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 30 years, distinguished by his diverse, unique photographic style. He obtained his degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California in 1980 before moving to Milan where he gained recognition for his innovative and individual approach. His work received critical acclaim after being featured in several prominent publications including Vogue Italia, Lei, Linea Italiana, Madame Figaro, and French Elle. After achieving success in Europe, he returned to the United States where he photographed album covers and advertising campaigns for numerous clients.
Holz’s distinctive approach to photography incorporates lighting, shadows, movement, and printing techniques to produce one-of-a-kind images. His portfolio is varied and includes nude subjects juxtaposed with industrial objects, as well as vast landscapes, forests, jungles, rivers, and aftermaths. His focus later shifted to celebrity portraiture, capturing iconic figures such as Jack Nicholson, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, and President Barack Obama, to name a few. His work has been showcased in galleries worldwide, and his photographs are displayed in the permanent collections at the International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, and Centro Cultural/Arte Contemporaneo in Mexico City. Holz is currently represented by the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles and Staley Wise Gallery in New York City.
